When I first saw the original photo, I was a little distressed by it just because the boy looked so lonely out there in the torrential rain, and soaked through to his core. It connected me with some experiences I had had when I was young and had no umbrella!
My biggest challenge with this piece, was trying to depict the soaking wet t-shirt and realistic water on the umbrella, I think I did alright considering it was my first experience with it

that is very awesome my best buddy.
You are just the best, thank you so much my dear friend!
I think you did a bit better than 'alright'... excellent work.
You did great depicting the wet tee shirt. I was more convinced by yours than the photograph. The skin color coming though really makes it real.
I love this picture.
I love this picture.
You know my friend, I really appreciate your feedback, you made my day!! I'm so happy you like it that much!!
Cool work, Beverly!!!
beautiful artwork i must have missed this one
WOW!!! Love what you did to make the t shirt look soaking wet!
I actually was so proud of my efforts with this one, that's exactly what I wanted to achieve...I'd never done anything like that before, and real wanted to challenge myself...job done, I'm happy you like it and thank you SO much for your comment!!
Even though this was hard to draw for you, it turned out to be such a lovely piece of work You did such a great job on everything; even the wet shirt and rain! Outstanding job there
Aww thank you so much, I was so pleased at just getting the T-shirt to look wet so I'm happy that's what I achieved with him. I felt so compelled to draw him, because of the way he looked standing in that torrential rain. Thank you very much for your lovely comment!!
Love the rain!
nice work my dear
Oh Bev, I'm so sorry that I'm so late at viewing this but I just had to comment that this is absolutely stunning and I new it wouldn't turn out any less!
You did a fabulous job lovely! It looks amazing!
Hey you, its totally okay I know you've been so busy hon!! I really do appreciate you coming by and commenting and thank you so much sweetheart!!
Wonderful, Bev! Am I that far behind
The wet t-shirt effect is great!
I am most grateful for your comment, it was something I was utterly afraid to do, but went "what the heck, try it anyway" lol...So thank you!!
How did I miss this wonderful deluge!!It's Fantastic water Beverly....and... he looks soooooo wet! It's lovely!!
Aw thanks Tricia, I hope all is well with you hon!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you!!
This is simply amazing! How long did it take you to do this?
Thank you Nathan!! Oh It actually spanned about two months...we took a holiday for three weeks in between me starting and finishing it
whatta coincidence! i had a moment like this (without the umbrella!) when our layout got flooded by a sudden downpour recently! i was upto my knees in water, and my car got flooded!
superb capture, beverly!
Oh no, that's sounds awful you poor thing!! Its bad enough being up to your knees in water, but having your car flooded too Oh dear!! Did it do much damage...that must have been some downpour!!
I would imagine so many could relate to this poor little boy, I know I can too...I was walking quite a distance to work one morning, and it poured down so heavily I got drenched and didn't have an umbrella...I had to dry my clothes in the dryer at work (Hair Salon) before we opened for business....I sat in the back of the store, in my slip, and nothing else
Thanks so much Subhankar, your input really means a lot!
I wish you the very best wishes for a lovely Christmas and New Year my friend
